I found this site a long time ago, sometime last year and even posted it on the boards for everyone to view. However the link fell from memory and not until tonight when I was watching the Tv that I thought about it again. Modern super-hero is a site that post articles about breakthroughs in technology that brings us mere mortals a little bit closer to those super powers we've read about and seen on TV. Although to me, super powers aren't that good if they aren't unique. I want to be born with the ability to fly, or to move objects with my mind and/or stop time with the blink of an eye. If this kind of technology were to become mainstream then everyone you know would be flying around on jetpacks and jumping extreme heights using the new exoskeleton that just came on sale around the corner in your nearest shops.
However, in saying that. This shit is still pretty damn cool. So far only the rich can enjoy these new technological aided super powers but the rest of us can enjoy reading about it and dreaming.
I dunno about you guys but one of the main super powers I wish I had was the ability to regenerate my health really quickly, or just like superman, be able to get shot in the eye and it didn't even hurt. Now these things wont make that absolutely true but it sure as hell will bring us one step closer and keep you from getting mugged at the shops.
Personal and lightweight armor. A dream that may not be that far away. Troy Hurtubise has invented the "first ballistic, full exoskeleton body suit of armour" and it's pretty damn cool. The link I have for it - the one I found on modern super hero - doesn't give much spec details about it. Maybe because they don't want the enemy known what kind of armor the soldiers might be wearing sometime in the near future, maybe because the inventor doesn't want to release any info that might let other scientist copy his suit - or simply, the site doesn't have it. However, it does give enough info that lets us know that this thing is bullet proof, blade proof and apparently explosion proof.

Second big super power I would like to have is super strength. I don't want to be all big and green like the hulk though, nor do I want to be made of rock like the thing from fantastic four.
Artificial muscles using carbon nanotubes will give us that option hopefully in the future. http://edition.cnn.com/2006/TECH/science/08/16/artificial.muscles/ Still in early stages and obviously not ready for personal everyday use but it does show you the direction we are going and what can be done. Even then, with the advancement of nanotechnology we can be increasing the size of our muscles as we need them in the future.
The one we've all been waiting for, invisibility. What would you do if you were invisible for a day? everyone has been asked this question. How about "What would you do if you had the ability to be invisible any time you wanted?" yeah that one suits me as well. These scientists have actually figured out how to bend microwaves so they don't actually hit anything, just like that cloaking device you seen in star trek.

Well that's it all for now. I know there are much more super powers out there that we all want, or even super hero things like weapons, gadgets and a fuck awesome super here lair. That will all be coming up in a future post and even a few projects with this subject in mind.
Until then, check out http://www.modernsuperhero.com

Genesis after the flood
Welcome to my new blog, I've not had a proper blog since Sean13.com shut down - and by shut down I mean I stopped paying the bills - so you, my friends, are in for a real treat. I have a whole lot to talk about.
I do realise that the majority of my blog readers rite now are Snags and anyone else who happens to be active in the irc room(irc.oftc.net #digital-deception) when this link is passed about but I wont let that stop me from blogging and sharing my views on the tech world.
